Deep breath, deep breath

They've just posted a preview of some of the patterns in the March 2013 issue of Inside Crochet and my very first crochet design is out!  It's my first time to see the official photos and I couldn't be more pleased.  I'd repost all of them here except I'm not sure if it's okay to do that so I suppose I'd have to settle with just one (please excuse that horrible run-on sentence!) :

It's called 'Beatriz Shrug' after my mom :)

And here's another photo, taken before the shrug was shipped all the way to the UK:

Lastly, here's the Ravelry pattern page for it.

(If you're wondering why the shrug in my photo looks a bit different from the one the model has on, it's because it can be worn either side up and the look of the hem and the collar changes depending on how it's put on.)

I'm so giddy and gleeful I can't stop smiling.  Thank you, Inside Crochet, for accepting my design into your lovely magazine!

    1. Thank you Mimi! If it hadn't been for your example and encouragement, I wouldn't have thought to submit to a magazine in the first place. :)

  2. Congrats! This is awesome! It looks so elegant! :D
And it's super cool, too, that it can be worn more ways than one.
    Good job :)

    1. Thank you! Writing up the pattern and figuring out the sizing took weeks but all the hard work's worth getting to see it in such a professional shoot. :)

(Actually, baligtad talaga yung pagkasuot ng model sa shrug kasi dapat draped collar sya pero baka mas gusto ng stylist yung look pag mahaba yung sa likod.)

  4. Hiya,

I fell in love with the shrug as soon as I saw the mag, that's why I bought it, so massive congrats:-) Just a quickie, as I am quite new to crochet. I am doing something wrong in rows 6-9 on LB, but can't figure what I'm doing or not doing!!! WHat does continue as established mean? And, the decrease each side on ch-sp and the 1-ch increase to each side of centre dc??? I have tried to look at pics, as I can usually work out where I am going wrong, but this is a whole new project for me, structurally speaking!!

Thank you for making such a wonderful shrug.

  5. Hiya Catyanna,

A thousand thank you's for that:-) As soon as I read it I could see where I was going wrong!!! So, thank you so much:-) As soon as I'm done (and if it comes out well, then I will be happy to share my efforts, so fingers crossed! And, I'm hoping to get 1 done for my mum!) but for now I've had to put all my projects on hold as I am retaking a maths exam after 19 years of putting it off!!! So, full concentration on the maths!!
Again, thank you so much, it is really appreciated.

    1. Hi there! :) It's currently available only as part of the Inside Crochet March 2013 issue (I think you can get the magazine in digital format from pocketmags dot com). But I'll be putting it up for sale in Ravelry this July. If you add me to your Friends list or send me a message from there (my username is catyanna), I can earburn you as soon as it's out. Thanks so much! :)

  8. Hiya cat, After a vey long but crafty busy break from this project, I've started again!!! Just started upper back, but am very confused at where I'm going or how!!! Just chained 81, then joined with a dc to lower back. Where do I go from here? How do I do the lb-row 3 pattern, when there are no dcs just chains to dc into? Or am I meant to work into the top of the lower back? I really can't picture where I'm going next with this in my head? Can't figure where each bit goes I guess to be able to piece it together in my mind!!! Many thanks for your help and time. Lxxx
